Laura E. Barnes is the Lawrence R. Quarles Professor of Engineering and Applied Science and a Professor in the Department of Systems and Information Engineering at the University of Virginia, as well as Associate Director of the Link Lab. She directs the Sensing Systems for Health (S2He) Lab, where her research integrates mobile sensing, wearable technologies, and human-centered AI to study health and well-being in real-world settings. Her work spans digital mental health, longitudinal behavioral modeling, and computational approaches to patient-clinician communication.
